Gluten Free Guide: STL

My husband and I have recently moved to the St. Louis area. My goal is to create this gluten free restaurant guide as a resource for others in the area and/or traveling through to go to. Feel free to comment below with some recommendations of your own and I’ll add them to the list!

*indicates restaurants I have been to myself

**indicates restaurant recommended by readers

Chesterfield

*Corner Pub & Grill: The best place around for safe, delicious, affordable gluten free food! We have ate here a few times and the food is amazing! Chicken tenders, fried pickles, fish and chips, and more! The owner’s daughter has celiac so they are super safe and aware of cross contamination. They even have a dedicated fryer! Also has a location in Valley Park

*Red Robin: Chain restaurant, but is great for gf! Their fries are in a dedicated fryer- but be sure to check per location because I believe not every location is the same!

Clayton

*New Day Gluten Free: NOW CLOSED

Creve Coeur

*Pei Wei: Many gluten free options! I got the Vietnamese Chicken Spring Rolls, Trenton got the Kung Pao and mom got a Cauliflower Rice Bowl. We all really enjoyed our food and would eat here again! It’s like a mini P.F. Chang’s but not as expensive!

*Poke Munch: Build your own poke bowls, signature bowls and rolls. Trenton and I tried poke here for the first time and it was delicious! Items are labeled gluten free and cross contamination is at a minimal.

*The Shack: Owned by the same people who have Corner Pub & Grill. Wonderful breakfast and lunch options! Opened daily from 6:30am-2pm. Trenton got “The King Lives” pancake and it was incredible! I got the “Smoke Em While You Got Em” and it was also very good. We plan on eating here many times! Also has locations in Valley Park, Chesterfield, Frontenac, O’Fallon, & Overland Park.

Kirkwood

*Britt’s Bakehouse: Dedicated gluten free bakery! They also have several items that are dairy free. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to see what their daily menu is!

* Dewey’s Pizza: Wonderful gf pizza- one of our favorites! Many options available!

St. Charles

*Salt + Smoke: Had several gluten free options, but many of the sides or entrees have risk of cross contamination. Make sure you get the gluten free menu and not just look at what’s labeled gluten free on the regular menu. There are items on the gluten free menu that are cooked in a shared fryer and the menu marks those items as so. I got the Cherry Smoked Salmon sandwich on a gf bun, Trenton got the prime brisket sandwich and mom got the pulled chicken plate. Their potato salad was really good as a side item.

Ballwin

*Saffron Indian Cuisine: Really good food. Most everything is gluten free except the naan bread. Our waiter was knowledgeable about what was gf. Very reasonably priced and huge portions! Saffron is truly a gem!

Town & Country

*Wasabi Sushi Bar: Wonderful place for eating sushi safely! We have been here many times. Their sushi rolls are labeled gf. If you get the California roll there is a $2 up charge because they use snow crab instead of imitation crab. There are also several other locations including Kirkwood, St. Charles, Edwardsville, Clayton, Fairview Heights, and Warson Woods.

Downtown Area

Fitz’s Root Beer: This is a must if you’re looking for a true St. Louis restaurant! A lot of delicious gluten free options- their fish tacos, hamburgers, and fries are so good! Also you must try a Fitz’s Root Beer or float! Our families in IN love their soda and we take some back about every time we go home!

The Golden Hoosier: We haven’t been here yet but have heard nothing but wonderful reviews! I believe they can make everything on their menu gf!

Prioritized Pastries: Have not been here myself but is a completely gluten free and vegan bakery!
