Checking in & 2020 recap

Hi all! Wow, has it been a long time since I’ve written a blog post!

It makes me sad to realize that this year I’ve only written 11 other blog posts. In undergrad, I made my blog more of a priority and tried to have new posts regularly. Now that I have more time to write, it seems like I can’t think of what to write about. It sees like once my brother passed away, everything changed. I don’t know if you’ve experienced a deep loss in your life, but for me it seems like since the moment I found out, my whole world turned upside down. It’s been more difficult to focus, more difficult to have quiet time, and more difficult to sit down and write to you all.

This year, 2020, has been a weird one for us all. I don’t think any of us expected a global pandemic to happen! With the new year approaching, I’ve been reflecting on this past year. We got to spend more time with family than expected, more time at home together, I got a job I enjoy, started graduate school, and we adopted a puppy (follow me on Instagram to see more regular updates). Since my husband is pursuing a doctorate, we definitely did not expect to go home a ton except on breaks. Quarantine gave us more time to spend with each other, and with loved ones than we ever expected. I started working at a dedicated gluten free bakery and really enjoy it. I also started my master’s degree in nutrition this fall, and in September we adopted an adorable little westie puppy named Louie (yes, he has an instagram @lil.louie_thewestie).

I’m not typically ones to make “new years resolutions”, but I do have some goals I hope to put into place with the start of a new year. I want to make reading The Bible a priority. I’m not good about reading my Bible regularly- I know I should, I know I need to but sometimes my heart is just so heavy and I don’t know where to start. I want to get into the habit of reading my Bible everyday before work. Getting up earlier, even on the days I don’t feel like it! I also want to implement some type of physical activity into my routine such as yoga or dance workouts. I absolutely hate working out and am not a sporty person, but I do enjoy dance and yoga. I also want to start on writing a book. If you follow me on social media, you saw where I shared about this a little bit. I want to at least start writing about my brother’s story, and hopefully some day have it published.

What are you thankful for that 2020 brought you? What are some goals you have for the new year? And what topics do you want me to write about here on SincerelyC? Comment below! I love connecting with you all!
